UPDATE AND UPGRADE OF HALL OF FAME ON APTA AND MUSEUM FOUNDATIONWEB SITES It has been six years since the initial posting on the APTA web site of the photos and biographies of those 75 individuals who have been inducted into the platform tennis Hall of Fame. That posting came about through the devoted effort of Bob Brown and Taylor Bowen. The research and composition of the web site took innumerable hours and both Bob and Taylor are to be complimented for their work and devotion that brought it about. Now the APTA and the Hall of Fame Museum Foundation have joined forces to update and upgrade the site. By “updating”, it is meant to add to the biographical material that has occurred in this past six years as well as some items that were omitted or unknown at the time of the original the original posting. The “upgrading” will be focused on improved photos of the inductees as well as improvements in the text. To accomplish these goals, a letter signed by Tim McAvoy, President of the APTA and Bob Brown, Chairman of the Museum Foundation, was sent in early January to the living inductees and to survivors of those deceased. A copy of the current photo and text were included. The letter requests a response with new activity on the platform tennis courts, such as new championship titles, and correction of any errors in the previous information. The inductees were also given the choice of retaining the current photo or submitting a new one. The response has been excellent. New photos have been received and changes to the records shown on the current web site were brought to the groups attention. It will again take months of work to prepare the revised photos and changed biographies to be posted on the web sites. Presently the goal is to have the new presentation ready for the new season in October 2010. It is hoped that this revision will continue to be an inspiration to players, juniors and administrators to give of themselves to the sport. what do you think? let me know! info@platformtennisnews.com |
